aimreal2 Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand

To keep on developing your precious little city, You must have Land, Land, Land. And more Land.

As the famous quote goes, “Son, stocks may rise and fall, utilities and transportation systems may collapse. People are no damn good, but they will always need land and they’ll pay through the nose to get it!”

In playing Cityville, that also holds true. Land is very valuable. Where would you build all your apartments and high towers?

To achieve full potential of your city, you need to expand to more and more land. And to buy land, what you’ll need are “Zoning Permits.” Now these Zoning Permits can’t be bought by cash, but can only given to you.

To get these Zoning Permits… Well, actually there are four ways now five ways to get it. But getting one from completing the “Become Mayor” quest is just a one time deal.

Another way is adding a Zoning Permit to your “Wishlist” and post it to your wall. But that’s kinda greedy since asking your neighbors to freely give you one Zoning Permit through “My Neighbors” tab, without any trade or exchange of collectibles or Community Building’s materials from your side will not help them in anyway. And it’s not much of a goodwill, per se. So, let’s just consider only three ways the four ways of getting Zoning Permits :

1. Upgrade Your CITY HALL Community Building

Yes, it’s true. As of April 24, 2011, you could get Zoning Permits when collecting rents!

Well, collecting rents from City Halls, that is icon biggrin Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand Many buildings can now be upgraded in Cityville. The other buildings that can be upgraded are the Police Station and Warehouse.

But before you can have a chance to collect free permits, you have to renovate or upgrade the City Hall to Level 3.

City Hall Level 1

If you’ve already deleted your City Hall like me, then you have to build one again from scratch. Buy it from the “Build” menu under “Community Buildings.” It’ll cost you 1,000 Coins, 3 Energy and you need to hire 3 of your neighbors for staffs.

It’s a 4×4 building and will only give you a measly 50 population allowance. But as said before, it can now be upgraded to give more Coins and Rewards.

City Hall Level 2

To upgrade City Hall to Level 2, you need to hire 3 more of your neighbors as staffs. When you get the needed staffs, then your City Hall will be renovated (new looking building) and upgraded to 150 population allowance. And most importantly, you can now have a chance to get Zoning Permits and more Energy when collecting rent from it.

But why stop upgrading when you can have a chance to get 2 Zoning Permits per rent?!

City Hall Level 3

To have a chance to get 2 Zoning Permits when collecting rents from City Hall, you need to hire 4 more additional staffs from your neighbors. All in all, you need 10 staffs to build a Level 3 City Hall from scratch. But if you haven’t deleted your old City Hall before, you’ll only need 7 additional staffs for a Level 3 upgrade.

For a Level 3 City Hall, you will have another brand new looking building, increased population allowance to 500, a chance to get more energy and the best part of it is : a chance to get 2 Zoning Permits!

If you have 15 or more Cityville Friends / Neighbors, then upgrading City Hall to Level 3 is no problemo. And at this point, you now have a chance to get 2 Zoning Permits plus more energy, every time you collect rent from it.

And if you have many more friends and neighbors to hire, building a second City Hall would be a great idea. There’s no limit on how many City Halls you can build and upgrade. The only limiting factor to this Zoning Permit gold mine is how many friends and neighbors can you hire to upgrade to level 3. So, if you have 20 or more Cityville Friends / Neighbors, better build and upgrade another City Hall.

You can also used Cash to fill up the needed staffs for an upgrade. But it’s expensive as it’ll cost you 5 Cash for each staff. But then again, it’s your choice icon smile Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand

To have Level 3 City Halls, you have new supply lines for hoarding Zoning Permits.

2. Asking through Expansion Posting

Well, this is not the same as your “Wishlist.” But you can only do it, once a day. Just go to your “Build” menu. Under “Expansion,” click the grayed out “Expand” button (It’s grayed out if you don’t have enough number of Zoning Permit for an expansion). A pop-up will give you two options : Buy with Cash or Ask Friends for Zoning Permits. Click the “Ask for Permits” button, then “Publish” the request to your wall and your neighbors’ wall.

Don’t mind the wrong picture on your wall request. You’ll notice a picture of a “Building Grant Permit” request. But when your neighbors click on it, they will still give you a Zoning Permit so all is well.

Now, all you have to do is hope that your neighbors will see your wall requests and click on it. Sending them PMs to remind them would be annoying, but you can always do that if you want, hehehe.

( But remember that posting Cityville requests on your own wall and other people’s wall will still depend on whatever settings you and your neighbors have in Facebook privacy setting and the invisible app’s setting. Well, I called it invisible app’s setting because Facebook gave all that privacy control to the apps. If an app needs permission, a pop-up will ask if you will allow it permission to post to your wall. If you would allow it, where will you disable it, IDK icon sad Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand And if you would not allow it, then it will constantly ask you for permission. I know it’s unfair, but you do need those Zoning Permits. Moving on… )

I know, it’s unfair. But with the latest update, you cannot ask for Zoning Permits anymore through the Expansion tab of the Build button. And if you do click on it, the only option you are given is to buy Expansion with Cash icon sad Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand

Some say, the “Ask Friends” for Zoning Permit is just a pop-up glitch. Here’s to hoping Cityville will fix this soon. So every mayor can again ASK NEIGHBORS for Zoning Permits!

Right now, I guess the Wishlist sounds a little better. Even though it still borders in the lines of desperate moves, but hey, it’s your move.

3. Asking through Giftable Request Links

By clicking on the Zoning Permit image on this post: Cityville: Tip for Unlimited Neighbor Request Links, you may ask or request additional Zoning Permits from your Neighbors and Cityville Friends.

You can have at least 80 Zoning Permits per day, if and only if, you only play Cityville first in Facebook for the day. Well, that’s kinda a bit much, but realistically, getting 13 or 26 Zoning Permits per day is still a lot!

So, if you have a chance, start requesting now. Pronto, before these Request Links bugs get patched icon smile Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand

4. Gifting Neighbors

Asking and gifting in Cityville are two different options. If you already gifted a neighbor for something, you can still ask that neighbor for the same thing you’ve just gifted or for something else. And you can also do this once a day.

Well, there’s a catch to this. The catch is if your neighbor will return the favor and gift you back the Zoning Permit. But you do have generous and active neighbors, right? So, you will have deep reserves. You have enough permits to expand when you want it. When you need it. And that’s all that matters…

Zoning Permit Inventory Limit

But there’s another thing you have to watch out for. Your Inventory can only store 60 Zoning permits. So, if you’ve reach about 40-ish Zoning Permits, you have to expand. Buy more land. Or else, you cannot store and accept anymore Zoning Permits your neighbors gifted or given you.

And if you can’t afford to expand at the moment, due to low Coins or Population Requirements, better stop asking or gifting Zoning Permits until you you have used up some of your Zoning Permits for Expansion. Because remember, if you already have 60 Zoning Permits in your Inventory, you cannot accept any more Zoning Permits icon sad Cityville City Expansion: Tips on getting Zoning Permits to Expand
